ICE supports the fight against cancer

Earlier this month ICE joined the fight against cancer by sponsoring Tara Ford, Forwarding Coordinator in our Brisbane office, in the Relay for Life.
Relay for Life at WynnumRelay of Life began in the USA in 1985 when Dr Gordy Klatt raised over $27,000 for his local cancer charity by running around an oval for 24 hours. Since then, thousands of events take place across the globe every year. Relay for Life is an overnight, community event for thousands of Australians who, relay non-stop as they celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost, and fight back against the disease by raising important funds.
Tara’s Relay for Life, the first ever held in Wynnum, Queensland, raised $17, 412.00, with Tara’s team contributing $5357.75 towards that total. The money raised goes to the Cancer Council, which is not government funded, to support their research, prevention, education and support services.
relayforlifeTara walked for more than 5 hours, while others were carried around the course in chairs and the day also involved piggy back rides, skipping competitions and dressing up in drag competitions.
Well done Tara, everyone at ICE is proud of your effort and we’re pleased to have been involved in raising funds for such a worthwhile cause.
